First, I love the Metro module – is is exactly what I wanted in a drum synth. I have had a problem in updating the firmware, though.
I followed all the instructions and tried to update the firmware to v2.7.5 with Windows 10, but when I ran the .bat script, this message appears:
‘chgport’ is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.
…then the script only allows me to exit.
Is there any advice you can give to fix this issue?
Muchas gracias por su ayuda,

Hello Mike! Excuse me for the delay. The main problem is the the default “chgport” from windows 10 is not available in your system. We will continue looking for a more universal solution and solve the issue. However, we have tried the Magerit Updater in multiple Windows and Mac computers and it worked fine, so the problem is that there is a missing file in your computer. We will write as soon as possible giving you the solution. Best regards!

No worries, thank you for your help.
I’ve tried looking for chgport on my computer, and cannot find it. I will see if I can download a copy from Microsoft, but if not, I will try using my work laptop.

Hello, Mike! We have made a minor improvement in the Magerit Updater script. We do highly recommend you to download it. However, we will try to check if is it possible to avoid the chgport function. It is very important in order to read all available serial ports on your computer and detect your METRO. Best regards!

It took some time, but I was able to install chgport on my computer. I tried running the new Magerit Updater script, and recieved a new message:
‘No serial ports were found.’
I also tried this on my work laptop and saw the same message.
When plugging in the Metro with a USB, the computers recognise it as a new device, so I don’t know what’s happening – I’m not much of a computer person.
I will keep trying to see if there’s a way to get the computer to find serial ports. I also see that Microsoft no longer uses chgport (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/administration/windows-commands/chgport) so if you can find a way to update without chgport it would be good.
Thanks, I do appreciate your time in helping with this.

Okay! After updating the driver for the USB connection, the Updater script could see the port.
Unfortunately, when I tried finishing the update process, the following message appeared:
‘Cannot open self C:\Windows\system32\data\esptool.exe or archive C:\Windows\system32\data\esptool.pkg’
If there’s anything I can provide (log files, etc) to help, let me know.

Hello, Mike! We will post here the legacy Magerit Updater. It does not use “chgport”, so you need to know your METRO’s COM port number. You can check it in the devices manager. In case you module is not recognized in the device manager (Unknown devices/Others), you can install the drivers in Windows Update – Optional Updates.
Then, the update procedure is quite simple. In the folder there are all the instructions available (only a few simple steps)
Best regards, David.

Muchas gracias, David, that worked.
The next time there is an update I will try the ‘regular’ updater, but will keep a copy of the legacy one, just in case.
